Non-Lawyer Legal Disclaimer

Statutory disclosures regarding non-lawyer status, self-representation assistance, the difference between legal information and legal advice, and free Ontario legal aid resources.

TENANTAI IS NOT A LAWYER OR LICENSED PARALEGAL

TenantAI is an autonomous legal technology software application designed to assist self-represented tenants with legal information, statutory formatting, chronological evidence organization, mathematical rent abatement calculations, and procedural compliance before the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB).

1.No Solicitor-Client or Paralegal-Client Relationship

Your use of TenantAI, including communicating with the conversational AI agent, utilizing the Notice Auditor, generating tribunal motions, using the Pocket Wiretap acoustic teleprompter, or creating Bates-stamped evidence briefs, does not create a solicitor-client, paralegal-client, or fiduciary relationship between you and TenantAI, its developers, or its operators.

Communications with TenantAI are not protected by common-law solicitor-client privilege or litigation privilege.

2.Legal Information vs. Legal Advice

All responses, statutory references, document templates, notice analyses, and mathematical calculations provided by TenantAI constitute legal information and administrative self-help tools, not formal legal advice.

While TenantAI is grounded in the Ontario Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 (RTA), the Statutory Powers Procedure Act (SPPA), and Landlord and Tenant Board Rules of Practice, laws change, jurisprudence evolves, and tribunal members possess wide statutory discretion under Section 83 of the RTA.

3.When to Seek Licensed Professional Representation

You are strongly advised to retain a licensed lawyer or licensed paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) if your situation involves:

  • Appeals of LTB orders to the Divisional Court of Ontario on questions of law.
  • Civil lawsuits in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice or Small Claims Court exceeding tribunal monetary caps.
  • Complex commercial tenancies, joint venture housing, or mixed-use properties not covered by the RTA.
  • Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) discrimination claims involving substantial damages.

4.User Responsibility to Verify Facts and Dates

You are solely and personally responsible for reviewing all generated notices, calculation schedules, termination dates, and evidence descriptions before signing, serving, or filing them with the Landlord and Tenant Board or delivering them to your landlord.

Filing inaccurate dates or miscalculated rent ledgers can cause delay or dismissal of your application. Always verify your rental payments against your actual bank statements.
